Florence, Italy
One of the great things about being a travel blogger is meeting others on the road. Just by chance I was on the train on my Kindle and noticed Breakaway Backpacker had tweeted he was also heading to Florence.
Since deciding not to pursue endless travel it seemed that everything was going my way.
Jaime is hilarious and scandalous. He blogs without fear or apologies about topics I would never dare to write about.
We looked around for lunch, but it was 2pm and we were both accustomed to Spain where lunch and dinner are both late. This isn’t true in Italy so most restaurants are closed, but we found a tiny restaurant on a backstreet with locals.
I splurged on a $12 lunch that included salad, spaghetti with white truffles, beef carpaccio and 1/2 litre of wine.
Let me tell you 1/2L each is a dangerous thing because after lunch we headed straight to a wine shop.

I'm Ayngelina and in my mid-thirties. I left an amazing job, boyfriend, apartment and friends to find inspiration in Latin America. I'm creating a new life choosing what I want instead of what other people think I should do.

Mmmm…I love carpaccio! We serve it at my restaurant and it is the one item I never tire of.

You do not have to warn me about the dangers of 1/2 liter of wine with lunch

So cruel but so true…
I love beef carpaccio, but in most places they don’t know how to serve it well, I’ve been disappointed a lot!
I’m glad yours tasted good, although I prefer not having ‘salad’ on it.
I like it without salad as well but you cannot pass up arugula and parmesan in Italy.

I know it would be $50 at home!
How is beef carpaccio prepared? It looks a bit like prosciutto or maybe even bacon. I am on a restricted diet (Celiac Disease) so I can’t eat anything with wheat or gluten in it. I usually have to prepare my own meals where ‘ere I go.

It is traditionally thin slices of raw beef but in this case I think it may have been cured or smoked.
YUM. I never used to like beef carpaccio, but after some tasty experiences stateside, I love it. And those white truffles?! Lucky!!

I know you would think Italy was littered with white truffles.
