It seems so long ago that I packed for Latin America, it turns out there were many items I never used.

I love my old backpack but it’s time to get a new one, you may be surprised with what I want after a year and a half.

Hostels are peculiar in Ecuador, more often like guesthouses they haven’t catered to the backpacker crowd for decades like other neighboring countries. This also means there are a handful of mostly foreign owned hostels in the guidebooks and on booking sites but the best ones often don’t have a web site and count on word of mouth.

In Colombia I stayed in 3 memorable hostels that don’t receive much attention as they aren’t party hostels and I wanted to share them for those that may travel to Colombia.
