Day 44: Lanquin, Guatemala
Today as I was lying in the hammock, two of the neighborhood kids came by selling chocolate cookies they had made. They were very polite and had asked permission to approach people in the hostel.
For 60 cents I purchased one of the cookies and Rita and Gabriel sat down to talk to me. They were fascinated by my netbook and Rita wanted to type with it. I figured there were no harm as she couldn’t really do anything. I was somewhat incorrect as she managed to change the title of my speakers to gibberish, but that’s manageable. Rita, the eldest wouldn’t let Gabriel use the computer and he asked if he could look at the photos on my point and shoot camera. He laughed at Mr.Bacon and was fascinated by my photos of Mexico.
I told him he could take photos if he wanted and I was surprised at the photos. He has quite the artistic eye.
