Maui, United States

Okay so this one is a bit unfair to call a Food Friday because they are not food but pets of the Ritz Carlton Kapalua.

Loco and Moco were named after the typical Hawaiian breakfast which consists of white rice topped with a hamburger patty, fried egg and gravy.

Often it is topped with more meat or kalua pork or spam. I love trying local dishes and last year I spent a month discovering Hawaiian food, yet I could not bring myself to try it and I’m not sure I can this visit either as I’m still trying to shed the weight from eating all that food in Finland.

These pigs are adorable. When I stopped by these micropigs were being fed and their little tails wagging made me laugh.

Also, oddly enough they need to change dish bowls every so often, maybe they have order envy as well?

I also found out Loco and Moco are on Facebook, I sort of feel badly that I love the taste of pork so much.

Disclosure: I was a guest of the Maui Visitors Bureau, but they did not request that I write a favourable review or feel slightly guilty for thinking the food I eat is cute. But hey they are micro pigs, that is kind of different, right?

Cute! Their tails are kind of bushy. I hope you didn’t mention the name of your blog to them 😉

  2. I never think you should eat anything that you have named. But then again I didn’t grow up on a farm….

  3. @Carmie My friend grew up on a farm and had to look after lambs so for that reason, she refuses to eat it! These guys are so cute, I always feel a little bit guilty , that I eat them when I’ve been cooing over them. But, at the same bacon and pork belly and pork chop and all the rest are SO DAMN TASTY.

Oh my. I’m sure since by this point your Spanish is pretty good and you know what these little critters’ names mean in Spanish! Too funny! Big fan of bacon over here, but certainly won’t eat anything I’ve had the pleasure of meeting before it got on the grill. At least, I don’t think I have…

  5. Andi of My Beautiful Adventures says:

I am so glad that they are pets!
