I’m back on the East Coast of Canada for a couple of days for a conference but it’s not all work. Today I was invited to check out The Culinary Institute of Canada’s Culinary Boot Camp.
I’ve taken many cooking classes, some are great and other pseudo classes just make you feel like you’re cooking as you sit around and watch the instructor prepare your lunch. Here you really do cook, and today’s theme was East Coast favourites so I wasn’t sure how much I would learn as I grew up in Nova Scotia on traditional dishes like my Nanny’s seafood chowder and I’m responsible for cooking lobster for Christmas Eve. But Chef Ilona Daniel taught me something new – how to put lobster to sleep.
