I adore Cuenca but it was rather cold and I was really looking forward to meeting a few friends on the coast and basking in the warm sun of Canoa.
That hasn’t happened.
The friends are here but sunshine is not. It is really my fault. Locals were right by recommending Canoa for a great beach but they also warned me it was rainy season in Ecuador.
It has been raining every single day. All day. Well that’s not completely true, I did see a hazy sun for twenty minutes a few days ago. It’s been getting all of us down. Other than eating and drinking we haven’t done much of anything.
Finally today I decided I had enough of whining about the rain in between Facebook sessions and so I packed up my camera and gave myself one rule:
No bitching about the weather.
I walked around town taking photos and talking to the locals about the weather. And I didn’t melt. There was a steady drizzle as I walked through the streets and onto the beach but it was warm enough and while the sun never appeared somehow I had a good time.
I’ve decided that if it rains every day I’m still going out, even just to take my journal to a restaurant to write. I can’t hide inside because I don’t like the rain during rainy season.
